
Shri RAJIVA RANJAN PRASAD
Born on 01.01.1951. After graduating in Electronics & Communication Engineering from BIT, Sindri, joined Indian Broadcasting Engineer’s Service (IBES) in April, 1972. Worked in different capacities in both All India Radio & Doordarshan. Retired on 31 Dec., 2010 from the position of Engineer-in-Chief, Doordarshan. During this long service period of around 39 years, remained closely associated with International bodies and INSAT programme. Had been a member of Technical Advisory Group (TAG) of Insat Coordination Committee for almost 14 years. Had also served Vietnam as a nominated Expert of Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) for planning of satellite based broadcast network in that country. Chaired a drafting group of the then CCIR JIWP CMTT-4-10-11/1 from 1987 to ’90. Was appointed ITU Consultant (Senior Expert) in 1996 and served Republic of Yemen for planning of Radio/TV network in that country.
Is Life Fellow and past President of Broadcast Engineering Society (India) and also Life Fellow and past council member, Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India).
Was appointed Vice-Chairman, ITU-R Study Group-6, for the Study period 2008-2011. Remained associated with different committees of Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and Prasar Bharti (Broadcasting Corporation of India) during the period 2011 to 2013. Served as Independent Director, Broadcast Engineering Consultants India Ltd. (BECIL) from 2012-2015.
